So here's my wonderful piece that I'm currently working on! It's oil on canvas (about 22x26inches). The idea is basically the forest nymphs are being protected by the majestic deer, as the clouds begin to cover the sky and darkness is coming... :)
i ADORE the girl's faces :D
and here are some images of it as the days have gone by (sorry that the images are cheap, they're on my phone lol) enjoy!

| Mother's Day Piece |
[May. 4th, 2009|07:50 pm] |
So I decided to do a small oil piece on a board without primer... which turned out really difficult, the oil would soak in and make it more difficult to blend. But it still turned out fine :) I ended up giving the original away, and then making an photoshop-edited version for my mother's day cards (bleh, the colors are a bit off online) enjoy!

| Flower Series Started..... |
[Apr. 2nd, 2009|12:46 pm] |
|
Piece 1 has been finished from my flower series!! Hopefully I'll get to finish more flower-girls in time to sell prints/notecards on my etsy page as my first pieces of art! :/
Material: Colored pencils (though I may add some white acrylic to highlight the flowers) Flowers: Blue Iris and enlarged Forget-Me-Nots Feeling: I like her, but I wanted her to turn out sad rather than dark. I'm thinking about adding some rain in the background to bring about a stronger mood. And there turned out to be quite a few stray marks that wouldn't erase... bleh... But I was glad to take the time out to finish her, school has been bearing down quite a bit and it's difficult to find the time to work on art.
And yes, I'm awful at taking photos of my artwork. When I have money, I'll set up an area for taking photos of these babies :D

[Mar. 29th, 2009|06:17 pm] |
A good friend of mine has gotten his demo together. And I got to design the cover and back. I'm certainly not amazing at type, but it was fun to play with anyway.
he drew the pieces...

which turned into (which I actually really like)...
Adam Benham on Myspace If you like Jazz music, check him out if you have the time!

my first full piece done on wood. I've played in the past and really loved it, but this is the first one that I completely love! I attempted to mimic the technique that Audrey Kawasaki uses for her girls. But just "graphite" outlines wasn't sharp and dark enough for the outlines. So I traced the image on using carbon paper. Which makes it incredibly dark and wonderful, but cannot be erased! And that can be seen in a few little spots... oh well.. I will have to practice with some charcoal or something else to get the dark outline that I like.

I made this for a craft swap for a girl :) It's in colored pencil on bristol board. I really enjoyed making it! I enjoyed it so much, that spring and flowers have inspired my next pieces.......

Here's a taste of the stuff I'm workin' on now....... |

| Startin' it Up |

Thought it was finally about time for my inspirations, ideas, and process to gain form here on the web. I hope you enjoy :)
I live in New York City full of inspiration and chaos. Creating art is the time when I can get lost in a mist, everything else disappears. I want, I need, I have to create :) It is my fix... constantly reaching for those fleeting moments of peace... my ephemeral peace in this ephemeral existence.
